Volumetric analysis is a modern method for measurement of objects in three dimensions. Nowadays, it is widely available on most of the radiology workstations. It is a very precise method with excellently low interobserver variability, it is a reasonably time-consuming method due to the modern postprocessing. It is a standard before extended liver resections for the future liver remnant estimation, it is a convenient tool for measurement of irregular fluid collections. Experimentally, it can be used for the growth rate determination of small pulmonary nodules, for the assessment of tumor response to an interventional radiological therapy.
