Rational management of benign breast lesions

Benign breast disease is very common and accounts for most of the workload of, particulary symptomatic, breast clinics. Patients with diffise benign breast diseas are relatively young and present with pain and textural abnormality – for exam. nodularity. Benign breast changes results from disruption of normal physiological cyclis tissue proliferation aand involution, id characterized by global or localized areas of the changes. This lesions has different clinic symtoms and variability images in examinations technics. The value of ultrasound is debatable, with some claiming thet it leads to unnecessary investigationof clinically insignificiant benign disease (multiple biopsy or follow-up examinations) and other suggesting it is a useful patient managment tool particulary if surgery is being contemplated.
