The role of radiology in the treatment of breast abscess

A therapy of breast abscess was long-termly performed in the form of conservative antibiotic therapy and, if necessary combined with it´s surgical drainage. The role of the radiologist rested in the diagnosis of disease, the ultrasonographic (USG) examination and confirmation, possibly exclussion of the presence of the breast abscess. Currently, in addition to the actual diagnosis, we can actively participate in its treatment. Thanks to radiological interventions we are able to achieve results comparable with surgical drainage, but with a reduction of the resulting complications, of course.
